"Leaving?"

Without lifting even his eyes, the tall, pale man replied, "Yes."  He continued to pack.

She sighed slowly and without sound, her nose wrinkling as it usually did when she was fighting back her true emotions.  Leaning against the door frame, her mouth twitched as she hesitated in knowing what to say really.  She watched him ready his things.

His tone was tainted with a small level of irritation as he ceased his readying and stilled in the center of the room, looking over to her.  "What?  What is it now?"

His voice brought her alertness back round as she hadn't expected him to say anything else.  "Hmmm?  Oh.  What do you mean?" she asked in a small voice, tilting her head to one side slightly.

He closed his eyes and swallowed.  He didn't want to argue right now and he didn't feel the need to explain his actions.  He just wanted to leave.  He sighed noisily but kept a regal demeanor as his eyes came open and his lips parted. "I need this.  You know it."

She pressed her full lips together into a thin line and nodded.  "Mhm."

He sighed again, this time, even louder as he threw his hands up and returned to filling his suitcase which lay open on the bed.  "I need this holiday.  I haven't had a proper holiday in years!  I'm coming back.  It's only a week.  I don't know why you care so much.  Hey, what the hell are you doing here anyway?"  He was rambling without a single breath.

This made her smile a little as she peeled away from the doorway and walked slowly over to the window behind him.  She looked out, but she couldn't see anything.  "You called me."

"No, I didn't."

She chuckled under her breath as she turned toward him, ever-so-gently wrapping her arms around his slight waist.  "Yes, you did... You may not know how... but, you did all the same."  She smiled, pressing the side of her face into his back.

He stood straighter and his cool hand found itself atop one of hers, the warmth of her skin a soothing heat against his worn fingertips.  He leaned back into her a moment before encircling her wrist firmly with his long fingers and swirling her about to be at his front.  His grip tightened upon her wrist as he pushed her arm to her back and pressed his body into hers, his face hosting no emotion save his eyes which roared at her silently.  He whispered, "Perhaps I did call you.  Perhaps... I..."  He stopped, just staring at her.

She was practically melting into him.  The forcefulness with which he'd handled her was surprising but not unpleasant.  She eased a liquid smile and mashed herself against him further in an almost-challenging way.  "Perhaps you... what?  Perhaps you... wanted to tell me 'goodbye'?  Or... perhaps you..."

His eyes scanned her face, falling to her mouth which he longed to shut with an eternal kiss, but he grit his teeth and suddenly released her, turning around quickly and running his hand through his hair as he stared out the window.

The room began to get darker.

She nearly stumbled to her knees as he'd let her go so unexpectedly, but she caught herself, leaning onto the bed.  She was about to go to him again, but the lights were dimming even more.  "No... please don't.  Please, don't push me out, darling.  I haven't been here in so long... please..."  She struggled to stand but her legs felt as if made of impossibly-heavy stone.

He refused to turn around, his eyes closing as he rubbed his brow.

She was fighting the feeling of falling as she began to cry.  The room was suddenly black but she could still see his back partially, although she was somehow much further from him now.  She screamed as loud as she could but it sounded no louder than someone trying to speak under water.  "No!  Why do you always do this?"  Why....?"

Total darkness.
"...I just wanted to tell you goodbye." :blackrose:
